Kdun – Turning Pages Across Oregon has taken a meaningful step forward as Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library celebrates a new statewide milestone. The Imagination Library of Oregon has officially welcomed its 57th Local Program Partner: a collaboration between the Lower Umpqua Library and the Reedsport Rotary Foundation in Douglas County. This exciting expansion allows families in Reedsport and Gardiner to register their children under the age of five to receive free, high-quality books delivered by mail each month.
Launched by singer and philanthropist Dolly Parton, the Imagination Library is a global initiative aimed at encouraging early childhood literacy. The program mails one carefully selected, age-appropriate book to enrolled children every month, from birth until their fifth birthday completely free of charge. With the addition of the Lower Umpqua Library and Reedsport Rotary Foundation as local partners, children in these two Douglas County communities now have access to this enriching program.

The goal is simple yet powerful: make books accessible to all children, regardless of their family’s income or location. For rural areas like Reedsport and Gardiner, where access to early literacy resources may be more limited. The program offers an essential tool for supporting early learning and preparing children for school.
As the Imagination Library continues to grow, so does its impact across Oregon. The 57 local program partners represent a statewide commitment to early education, community collaboration, and family engagement. Each new partnership is a testament to the shared belief that reading opens doors for knowledge, imagination, and opportunity.
“Turning Pages Across Oregon” is more than a campaign slogan. It reflects a real movement that’s bringing books into homes and sparking joy in the hands of young readers. With every new title mailed, the program helps children develop strong literacy skills and a lifelong love for books.
