Kdun – FOBPR Hosts Bike Rodeo at Ocean Crest Elementary in Bandon on Friday, May 2, bringing energy, excitement, and education to local children. Organized by Friends of Bandon Parks & Recreation (FOBPR), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the event marked the second annual Bike Rodeo an initiative designed to promote healthy lifestyles and bicycle safety among young students.
The Bike Rodeo, originally envisioned by Christine Hall, President Emeritus of FOBPR, featured interactive stations where children learned key biking skills. From navigating obstacle courses to practicing hand signals, students gained hands-on experience in a fun and supportive environment. Volunteers, local law enforcement, and school staff were on-site to guide participants through safety protocols and answer questions from parents.

One of the highlights of the day was the donation of 10 brand-new bicycles to local kids who didn’t previously own one. FOBPR Hosts Bike Rodeo not only to teach safety but also to ensure access, giving children the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors in a healthy, independent way.
Each donated bike was paired with a properly fitted helmet and a quick safety lesson. Making sure the recipients were road-ready. These donations were made possible through partnerships with local businesses and generous community supporters. Who believe in the power of recreation to change lives.
